Futbol Club Barcelona legend Josep Guardiola Sala was born in Santpedor on 18th January 1971. In a playing career which spanned 17 years from 1989 to 2006. Guardiola made 343 appearances and scored 16 goals. After scoring on his Spain debut against N.Ireland In October 1992. he went on to make 47 appearances and score 5 goals for his country. He has enjoyed great success at Bayern, lifting 3 league titles and winning 2 cup competitions.
Josep Guardlola started his career at FütboI Club Barcelona in 1989/90. breaking into the first-team in 1990 and making a total of 263 league appearances and scoring 6 goals for the dub. During this time he also had a spell at Fütbol Club Barcelona B. During his time with Futbol Club Barcelona and Spain, Guardiola’s team lifted the Liga BBVA in 1992.1993.1994. 1998 and 1999. Gold at the Olympic Games In 1992. won the UEFA Champions League in 1992. the European CupWinners Cup in 1997, the UEFA Super Cup in 1992 and 1997. the Copa del Rey in 1997 and 1998 and the Supercopa de Espana 3 times between 1992 and 1996.
After leaving FC Barcelona in 2001, Guardiola moved to Brescia Calcio, going on to make 24 appearances. After leaving Brescla Calcio in 2002, Guardiola move to AS Roma where he made 4 appearances.
Guardiola moved back to Brescia Calcio in 2002 but he didn’t stay for long. After leaving Brescia Calcio in January 2003, Guardiola moved to Al-Ahli (QAT), going on to make 36 appearances.
Guardiola finally hung up his boots at the age of 35 In June 2006 following a short spell with Dorados de Sinaloa where he made 16 appearances. His first venture into management was with FC Barcelona B where he was appointed In July 2007. Guardiola’s FC Barcelona B team lifted the Spanish Third Division Group 5 in 2008.
In May 2008, he became FC Barcelona’s manager, a post he would hold for four years. During his time with FC Barcelona. Guardiola’s team lifted the Liga BBVA in 2009, 2010 and 2011. the FIFA Club World Cup in 2009 and 2011. won the IJEFA Champions League in 2009 and 2011. the UEFA Super Cup in 2009. the Copa del Rey in 2009 and 2012 and the Supercopa de Espana 3 times in a row between 2009 arid 2011.
A break from football lasting 12 months then followed with Guardiola’s next role as manager at Bayern beginning in July 2013. During his time with Bayern. Guardiola’s team lIfted the Bundesliga in 2014, 2015 and 2016. the FIFA Club World Cup in 2013 and won the UEFA Super Cup in 2013.

Guardiola has also earned recognition from the footballlng community for his achievements: Named Spanish Manager of the Year on three occasIons. German Players’ Manager of the Year runner-up and German Manager of the Year third place.
